Glossary
A deliverability reading is a daily measurement of where a mailbox's messages actually land in real Gmail and Outlook inboxes, used to set that mailbox's sending cap.
Delivered is not the same as in the inbox. A server can accept a message and still file it under spam or promotions. Deliverability is the share of mail that reaches the place a person will see it, and it can only be known by reading it.
In outbound engineering the reading is continuous. Real inboxes on the providers your prospects use receive test mail and report where it landed. The reading feeds back into the cap: a mailbox that is landing well may send more, one that is slipping sends less before the slip becomes a reputation problem.
This is the difference between a configured system and a monitored one. A domain that was healthy in week two can be in trouble in week six if the list was bad. Only a reading catches that.
Questions
No. Open tracking is noisy, and known proxies open mail without a person seeing it. Opens are reported with and without known proxies, side by side, and never as the lead number.
This term belongs to the outbound engineering glossary. The practice is defined on the category page.
Three screens, then thirty minutes with the person who builds the system. If outbound is not worth running for you, you hear that too.
